Sonja is an artist based in Grünwald, Germany – a small town bordering Munich whose name means "green forest."
Her work explores natural experiences through the permeability of virtual connections, establishing a dialogue between the artist, her environment, and the depicted elements. Trained in architecture and experienced in spatial and graphic design, she interprets space through forms, light, and interrelationships.
“Our world has grown increasingly cleaner in its design language, while our brains are still wired for visual stimuli. Even more reason to turn to a screen that hooks our attention to a feed and overshadows our original thoughts. My art intends to bring the intricate contrasts we see in nature into your spaces. Working with calm colour palettes, the paintings provide a serene space for your eyes to rest and your mind to wander, creating an environment that inspires without overstimulating your thoughts.”
Her paintings primarily use watercolor, ink and gouache on raw canvas.
